Sejahtera Semesta Rakyat (Setara)

Sejahtera Semesta Rakyat (= Sovereignty and Prosperity for all People / Setara) Foundation is a follow up from NTFP Indonesia and Bolsa Nusantara programs initiated by Non-Governmental Organization (AMAN, Telapak, KpSHK, and KEHATI), Community Based Organization, government (Ministries of Forestry, Trade and Cooperatif/SMEs Empowerement) and private sector (PT. Martina Berto/Martha Tilaar Group) since 2000. Both programs have objective to discover how we can use abundant natural resources in our country without forgetting conservation aspects. It is an initiative that facilitates sustainable and fair community trading.

Setara Foundation works to build the sovereignty and prosperity of targeted communities -they are indigenous people/local community- who manage the sustainable production. For the last few years, there are plenty of assisting community with various products, among others are: Resin in Lampung and North Sulawesi; Rattan in Central Borneo, East Borneo and Central Sulawesi; Bamboo and Rattan craft in West Java, West Borneo and East Borneo, Melinjo crackers in Banten, Lampung and Bengkulu; Coffee in Lampung, Bali, Nusa Tenggara and North Sulawesi; Seaweed in Bali; Forest Honey in West Borneo, Central Borneo, South Borneo, and South East Sulawesi; Rubber in South Borneo, Medicine plants in Central Java , West Java and Banten; and tens of other products all over Indonesia such as: essence oil (patchouli, nutmeg, Cinnamon), Cinnamon, Camphor/Sintuk, Fishery, Dragon’s Blood, Vanilla, Cardamom, Cat’s Beaver, woven cloth and weaving, Areca Nut, Cacao, Coconut and its derivative, and some more.

To fulfill its mandate, Setara Foundation develops trade networks in areas called “the Terminal”. It’s function is to be a market access and information knot for communities spread geographically. It also develops community trading. Up to now there are 16 terminals operated in 13 cities all over Indonesia.
