People currently have been more aware in the importance of discovering natural resources’ potential, developing product’s added value and its marketing. The awareness comes into appear when the fact shows that conservation program must be followed by activities that generate people’s income as the subject of the conservation itself. Experiences gained from activities that combine ecological and economical aspect showed that some problems keep surfacing and it is necessary to take a more systematic approach so that the activities are truly ready to enter a more profitable business (both economical and socially) for community while still put conservation as its consideration.
In principle, facilitating sustainable natural resource trading involves a very long chain.The chain starts from since the production/harvesting (upstream) to selling (downstream). The forms may vary, for example developing business, product and value added; promotion and marketing; developing criteria of sustainable, facilitating planning and implementation of sustainable natural resources’ management; capacity building for all stakeholders, disseminating information of product, business and market; facilitating pro-people policy; and developing profitable business.
